What an AI project actually needs
A model is the middle of the job. The beginning is a task. The end is a system someone operates when the novelty has gone.
A task, not a theme
Useful starting points are narrow: read this pile of invoices, answer from this set of documents, score this queue, inspect this image. “Add AI” is not a task.
Data and permission
The history has to represent the task, and you have to be allowed to use it. If either is missing, the honest recommendation is to wait or to start with a smaller rules-based flow.
A place for the answer
The result should land in the software people already use, with a person in the loop where a mistake is expensive. Accuracy is a reviewed property, not a launch-day claim.
