A twin and a picture are different
Visualization explains. A digital twin keeps up with the thing it represents. Both are legitimate. They should not share a price or a promise.
Fidelity
A 2D schematic is the right twin when people need status and navigation. A 3D model earns its cost when the space itself is the problem: coordination, inspection, or a building people must understand together.

BIM and CAD are inputs, not the product. The product is a view operations can open, tied to the systems that change: sensors, work orders, assets.
Where it sits
Twins connect naturally to IoT and analytics. Without a feed, commission a visualization and call it that.
